Where Has The Time Gone? Have We Taught Him Enough?

Ok, so my main goal since starting our family blog has been to make it happy, cheerful, fun and meaningful. I do believe I have kept this goal so far and plan to continue. Lately, however, I have been taking an "overview" if you will, of the time I have been a parent and mother, almost six years from this next September.
I have pondered these two questions: Where has the time gone and have we taught him enough? Reasons for this soul searching questions have been due to the fact that Jacob is starting Kidergarten in one month (I realize this is not a big deal for parents of college age kids, missionaries or newlyweds).
I don't know if all parents go thru the same feelings and emotions that I have, I think to some degree they do. But this new stage in Jacob's is frankly has me nervous, scared and excited all at the same time. Nervous for his safety and well-being while he'll be away at school all day. Scared about what challenges he'll face, the "growing pains" of childhood and beyond. Yet excited for him to learn so much and become better thru the growth that come from learning.
I expressed this fears I had to Jacob last night, he said to me confidently, "Don't worry Mom, God will take care of me!" At times I feel that my children are raising me, not the other way around, they are examples of what I want to become. I am so happy to have the experiences I have had with my children; which have been some of the sweetest moments of my life.

Celebrating Pioneer Day

Up the canyon east from where we live, our stake had a picnic to celebrate pioneer day. We drove up about nine in the morning. Tim was in charge of flag football and ultimate frisbee, which he played both for two hours. We got to watch him play and he is really good, scoring many touchdowns. Sorry for lack of some pictures of him playing...too much going on at that time, handcart rides, cotton candy, snowcones, and helping with a injury(a guy that was playing flag football without shoes). Ouch!
They announced in Primary that there would be a talent show, that afternoon Jacob asked if he could perform. So he did, his talent was building Clone Star War ships with Legos. The children all gathered around him. Tim and I was so proud of Jacob.
We lost count with how many rides Noah took on the handcart. The people doing the handcart knew Noah by name by the end, even with all the kids that were there.
Noah also found Tank's look-a-like sister at the event. Look Tank, she looks like you! What do you think Jon and Lori?
We all had a wonderful day, it was beautiful weather. It was nice, relaxing and refreshing to get out of the city into God's creations!

Waiting For The Icecream Truck

This is a picture of our neighbor's front yard, see the beautiful rocks instead of grass :).

Time with Dad

Jacob and Noah love sword fights with Dad. Mom loves the homemade lightsabers, no injuries. Crossing my fingers :).

Perfectly Made

Jacob has been making his bed each and early morning for a while now. This morning he did it just perfectly, but was frustated when Noah climbed up and sat on it. He didn't want any wrinkles on his newly made bed, hence the sign he made and taped it to Jacob and Noah's bedroom door. Yes, Jacob can write pretty good this days. The stick figure on the bed is Noah. You get the idea.

My Lizard...My Prayers Answered!

"I found my lizard!" exclaimed Jacob. Jacob's lizard has be missing for over a month. Last night Tim found him in our water container that we took on our family camping trip over a month ago. Jacob has been praying about his lizard ever since he has lost him and lizard has been a source of subject in our family prayers and converations too. We have turned this house upside down looking for him. It was the highlight of our day finding lizard! Welcome home lizard (even through he wasn't ever gone).
This morning Jacob built a two store house (the boxes seen in the picture) for lizard and his new dinosaur that Tim brought back for Jacob from his Washington D.C. It was a great reunion for Jacob and his friends.

Seven Years to Eternity

This next Monday, July 20th we will celebrate our 7th wedding anniversay! It has be a great and eventful seven years (eight years this fall we met at ISU). This Monday also marks the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11 and it's crew's, famous walk on the moon!
To celebrate our anniversary we took our boys to The National Nuclear Museum here, it is a brand new museum that opened up this past April. We have watched it be built, it is just down the street where we live. Jacob has been asking everytime we drive or walk by when we are going to take him there.
We had so much fun, the boys loved it, we spent three hours there which included a lecture on Apollo 11 and all the research it took to land on the moon. Jacob sat thru the whole time, it was an hour long. Noah did pretty good too. The boys eat up all the information that was there. We were able to read and do just about everything there.
There was an old radio, much like what I imagine my grandparents having in their home and my parents listening to as children. Noah found it and danced to the music! It was so cute. The music, I think was from the 1940's. We took a tour outside in the back where they had a bunch of military war planes, I think was one of the highlights for the boys, especially since they got to go inside the belly of one of the plane. Jacob came right home and built the planes he saw out of his legos.
We finished our family activity by going to our favorite restuant here, Golden Corral, YUMMY! It was a fun day and one to be remembered. Thanks Tim for giving me such a fun and rewarding experiences as a wife and mother. I LOVE YOU!
P.S. One of this pictures are for all our family and friend in Idaho, can you guess which one it is?
