Webb Family At The Solar Eclipse!!!

The pictures say it ALL! What I facebooked last night, "The solar eclipse was amazing, right up my scientist, husband's ally and my three little want-to-be scientists sons too. Great memories made tonight as a family!"

Solar Eclipse

THE RING OF FIRE!
Last night we had an unforgettable family activty. We witnessed a solar eclipse! It started 6:28p.m. and lasted for about one hour. The "Ring of Fire" last four minutes long. There was also a beauiful clear sunset afterward. In Jacob's extension class they made solar eclipse viewer with cereal boxes and learned all about it. I am not sure who was more excited, Tim or Jacob about this physical science wonder...they both took a good amount of time preparing for it. We drove up in the foothill, to a park at 5:45, at least a hurdred people were already there. We got an awesome place to set up the camera and our chairs. Everyone around us were so friendly, we even met a lady from Canada. Both Jacob's viewer worked well and he was so pleased. A co-worker from Tim's work gave him "Eclipse glasses" which worked the very best, it was so amazing and unforgettable! We took turns using them. Noah put them on and yelled, "OH, COOL!!!" Yes, it was. The elcipse experience was so unlike anything we had every experienced. We got there in broad sunshine, we were hot and coated everyone in sunsceen. But as the elcipse happened, it cooled down, got dust colored, even though it wasn't dust yet. We kept looking around, it looked so different. The night cooled much faster because of the elcipse. It was a marvelous experience for sure.

Flowers...So Many Kinds

For a while now, I have been wanted to make pen flowers for our kitchen. They are artifical flowers with pens placed on them with floral tape, then they are placed in a pot. They are pretty and useful so they service two purposes, both of which Tim and I like. So we also made them for the boy's teachers and Jacob's crossing gaurd at school. It was really fun doing all this crafts and finishing up a sewing project for my cousin's wedding gift. I enjoy making pretty things. Noah made me one of the most beautiful flowers out to tissue paper in school. Now my favorite colors are pink, reds and purple. Noah's favorite colors are orange, orange and orange. I was in aww when I saw the flower he made, it was so beautiful to me, the colors he use, it was such a nice gift. I love the gifts that Jacob and Noah gave to me for Mother's Day, mainly because they made them for me. I am so thrilled, our rose brushes are blooming tons of red and pink roses this year. I love cutting them and placing them in our house. So here are some pictures of all the flowers I have seen lately.

Both women have touch my life for good and have been incrediable Grandmas to our boys. I am happy I have them both in my life, they both bring richness, friendship and wisdom. I am grateful to have a close, nuturing relationship with both women and love them both. Happy Mother's Day Mom and Belinda!

What A Child Can Teach

Summer is upon us now, one more month of school, planning activities for summer break, and the weather is heating up but has been really nice temperature lately. Brilliant colors are out on the vegetation here, bright purples, hot pinks and yellows. During winter here there is every shade of brown, but the other seasons are beautiful, different from where Tim and I grew up, but it has it own beautiful here that we have learned to get use to and enjoy.
We have noticed these last few weeks, big yellow Monarch Butterflies flying around our house, backyard and neighborhood.  They are such beauties!
The morning are cool and fresh this time of year.  Noah, Adam and I love to be in the backyard during the morning hours, one to water the garden and look at it growth and two to play.  This morning was different...for two reasons.
One we took Jay (our newly found parakeet) outside to see if we could get him to twit (as he hasn't twitted since we found him) and he did after hearing the wild birds and enjoying the warmth of the sunshine on his feathers.
Two, Adam decided to climb (or so I thought) into the garden.  I saw him doing this and told him "no."  As I went over to help him get down out of the garden, I noticed what he was trying to do, not climb in the garden, but get close and look at a beautiful, yellow, Monarch Butterfly that was resting on a leaf of our cherry tree!!!  It was a sight to behold!  I called to Noah to come and see.  He came running.  The butterfly flew around landing on our a grape vine leaf and then our Rose of Sharon brush before flying away. With each move, the boys followed and it was so fun!
I was again reminded of the beauty and wonder of little children. They see the world anew, exciting and fresh.  They see things through their eyes, they observe and enjoy the simple beauties that God has created for us to enjoy.  I love seeing the world through their innocent eyes and seeing the wonder in their faces as they discover God's creatures big and small.

"Wendy Come Quick!!!"

Last Friday was very eventfully at our house. Jacob had his first late night party (we don't do sleepovers) with one of his closest friend here. He went over to Jeremy's house from 7-10 p.m. and then he went back to the party the next morning from 9-4 p.m. Jacob had a fabulous time and enjoyed being with friends. While Jacob was gone, Tim, Noah and I played Wii and had a blast. Adam was there enjoying the excitement, Noah was so thrilled, he was bouncing off the couch as he played. As we were getting Noah and Adam ready for bed, Tim was locking up for the night. As he was locking the backyard door, he said, "Wendy, Come Quick!!!" I came over and he asked if I saw what he saw. It was dark outside, so I wasn't sure what I was suppose to be seeing and I didn't see it at first. Then I looked at a different angle and there perched on our security door was, kid you not, a blue and gray parakeet!!! So we got our old bird cage out of the garage, from our previous bird, Tush (he was my bird before I got married, then he lived with us until two months after Jacob was born. Tushy was eight when he died. He was a suprise present to me from my Dad, and he was very special to Tim, my family and I). I was able to catch the parakeet because his wings had been clipped. I brought him in the house, as he perched on my finger, Adam squeaked for delight and Noah asked, "Can we keep the bird?" Jacob was very surprised to come home from his party and find a bird! He was very happy too!
We washed up the cage and I drove over to Walmart in a hurry to get some food for him. The parakeet was so tired and fell asleep as soon as he got in the cage. He slept all night and didn't start eating until the next morning. It has been almost a week since he came to us. Tim and the boys took notices around our neighborhood as we are trying to find the owner, but we haven't heard from anyone yet. If we don't find the owner, we will keep him. He is a calm bird. Jacob has named him "Jay" since he is blue, after bluejay. I was concerned that he hadn't twitted yet, he seems to be healthy. So my Dad suggested I take him outside in the backyard, int the cage and let him hear the other birds. Sure enough, this morning, we did that, he heard the wild birds and he was twitting. So happy...
