Solar Eclipse
THE RING OF FIRE!
Last night we had an unforgettable family activty. We witnessed a solar eclipse! It started 6:28p.m. and lasted for about one hour. The "Ring of Fire" last four minutes long. There was also a beauiful clear sunset afterward.
In Jacob's extension class they made solar eclipse viewer with cereal boxes and learned all about it. I am not sure who was more excited, Tim or Jacob about this physical science wonder...they both took a good amount of time preparing for it. We drove up in the foothill, to a park at 5:45, at least a hurdred people were already there. We got an awesome place to set up the camera and our chairs. Everyone around us were so friendly, we even met a lady from Canada. Both Jacob's viewer worked well and he was so pleased. A co-worker from Tim's work gave him "Eclipse glasses" which worked the very best, it was so amazing and unforgettable! We took turns using them. Noah put them on and yelled, "OH, COOL!!!" Yes, it was.
The elcipse experience was so unlike anything we had every experienced. We got there in broad sunshine, we were hot and coated everyone in sunsceen. But as the elcipse happened, it cooled down, got dust colored, even though it wasn't dust yet. We kept looking around, it looked so different. The night cooled much faster because of the elcipse. It was a marvelous experience for sure.
